In the last Bumper Bite, we discussed how investing was simply the act of using money with the goal of making more money.

However, it’s important to remember that investing isn’t guaranteed to make you more money. Let’s take your Rainbow Loom bracelet business from last time. If you invested $100 into the business in order to buy materials, but were only able to sell $50 worth of bracelets, you lost money on the venture.

As another example, suppose you invest in an imaginary company, called ZYX Entertainment. If ZYX Entertainment became less valuable, your slice of ownership would also become less valuable and you would lose money on the investment.

Thus, it’s important to remember that you can both gain and lose money when you invest.

Now that you understand the benefits and risks of investing, what are the actual steps you can take to begin investing?
